New York (Usa) – Si è svolta a New York nella serata del 15 febbraio la cerimonia dei Toy of the Year Awards (Toty Awards), organizzata da The Toy Foundation, divisione filantropica di The Toy Association. L’edizione 2026 ha riunito circa 800 professionisti del settore e ha raccolto oltre 1 milione di dollari a sostegno delle attività benefiche della Fondazione.

Il titolo di Toy of the Year 2026 è stato assegnato a Primal Hatch di Spin Master, dinosauro interattivo che nasce da un uovo e può essere ‘addestrato’ dai bambini. Il prodotto ha conquistato anche il premio Action Figure of the Year.

Il riconoscimento People’s Choice è andato al Pokémon Trading Card Game: Mega Evolution Elite Trainer Box di The Pokémon Company International, risultato il più votato dal pubblico online.

Nel corso della serata sono stati inoltre inseriti nella Toy Industry Hall of Fame Melissa e Doug Bernstein (fondatori di Melissa & Doug), Isaac Larian (fondatore e ceo di Mga Entertainment) e, alla memoria, Stanley Weston, ideatore di G.I. Joe.

I fondi raccolti dall’evento contribuiranno a sostenere la distribuzione di giocattoli a livello globale, programmi ospedalieri e interventi in caso di calamità naturali. Durante la serata è stato inoltre annunciato l’Alan G. Hassenfeld Humanitarian Award, nuovo riconoscimento annuale dedicato a figure del settore che si distinguono per impegno filantropico.
